About me...
Hi! I'm Waylon Brinck. I make video games. I work at Electronic Arts in Los
Angeles as an environment artist. (Actually, at the time of this writing, I
haven't even started yet, but I was excited and didn't want to wait to update
this page.) I had a temporary stint trying to start an independent project - Quarantine: Total Zombie Apocalypse. Due
to a lack of funds it didn't really go anywhere, but I'm proud of what we
achieved in the couple months we worked on it.
Previously I was lead artist for Guild
Software, and we released our first video game, Vendetta Online,
in November 2004. We still have a strong community playing the game, and new
features are continuously being added, so if you're a fan of space games you'll
definitely want to take a look.
Photography is a major passion in my life, as is urban exploration. Fortunately
for me, the two go well together. If you haven't already, go visit the photography section and check out some of the
galleries.
I recently moved to Venice, California (Los Angeles) five blocks from the beach.
Before that, I had lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin all my life.
Tools
So funny story. Everything on my site, pretty much, was shot with a Canon
Powershot G3. It treated me well, but stopped working immediately upon my
arrival in California. So now that I got a job, I ordered a replacement - a
Canon EOS 20d. It hasn't arrived yet, but you'll be seeing a whole flood of new
pictures soon, I'm sure!
On the software side, I use Photoshop heavily, both for cleaning up photos and
for creating game art. I've done all my 3D modeling in 3ds Max, but it looks
like I'm making the switch to Maya. I'll let you know how that goes.
